This restaurant claims to have Taipei beef so I ordered the staple dish. To my surprise, the beef cuts were not made from beef shank as usually done in Taiwan. Instead, they used beef brisket which takes less time to cook, and cut into small cubes to mimic the chunk beef squares in Taiwanese beef noodles. The preserved sour vegetables was so finally chopped I suspect they were from pre packed ready to eat packages. Lastly the service was awful. The table next to me asked for check so I raised my hand too, the waiter came to give the check and completely ignored me. When he came back to collect the signed credit card bill from the next table, I raised my hand again and was ignored again. Later another waitress came in to bring dishes to a table directly on the other side of my table. She just went back after delivery the dishes, didn’t even look around, and my raised hand was ignored again. I have never been to a restaurant where waiters only caters to one customer or table and leave without checking on other tables. I had high hope for eating authentic Taiwanese beef noodle and I was greatly disappointed by the food and the service. I would recommend a food stand in New World m

I recently had the chance to try Four Four South Village, a Taiwanese restaurant best known for its beef noodle soups, and overall I had a really enjoyable meal. Taiwanese beef noodle soup (牛肉麵) is often considered Taiwan’s national dish, with roots tracing back to Chinese regional cooking before evolving into the comforting, deeply flavorful bowl that’s now loved throughout Taiwan. Every restaurant has its own recipe, but the heart of the dish is always a slow-simmered broth and tender braised beef. We ordered the Braised Beef, Tendon & Tripe Noodle Soup, the Tomato Beef Noodle Soup (with added spice), and an order of Spring Rolls. The Braised Beef, Tendon & Tripe Noodle Soup was packed with flavor. The broth tasted like it had been simmered for hours with beef bones, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, scallions, star anise, cinnamon, and other aromatic spices, creating a rich and comforting base. The braised beef was incredibly tender, the tendon had that soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that beef tendon lovers appreciate, and the tripe provided a pleasant chew while absorbing all of the broth’s flavor. Overall, thought the food was mediocre. Was not traditional taiwanese food and i thought i could be better. got the fried pork chop over rice, flavor was there but it was just too oily. the popcorn chicken over noodle was very bland, the beef noodles were pretty ok, but not traditional. I would give this place a 3.5 stars but i rounded up to a 4. The ambiance here is pretty good and the service is quick and efficient so that’s a 5 for me. food was a 3 star. would not come back probably as this was not very wowing. just go inside tangram and you’ll probably have something more satisfying.

A great spot if you’re craving a warm and satisfying bowl of noodles. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys comforting noodle soups. The appetizers were also excellent. The century egg was fresh and creamy. The sausage was juicy and slightly sweet, which paired well with the savory dishes. The popcorn chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Four Four South Village is a Taiwanese restaurant that hopes to become the No.1 beef noodle in the hearts of overseas Chinese people around the world. Using locally sourced high level beef and wheat flour, combined with imported raw materials from China and Taiwan, as well as techniques from gold and silver medalists of the International Section of Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival, they create delicious Taipei Beef Noodles. Not only are the beef noodles delicious, but each toppings/garnish you add increases the depth of the flavor. I personally enjoy their braised beef and tripe! Their braised beef is soft, easily splitting apart in your mouth. The honey-comb tripe is chewy with just enough elasticity for flavor and bounce. I was not too fond of their Sesame Oil Chicken Soup as the sesame oil was a bit strong. However, their rice dishes were tasty! I highly recommend the Taiwanese Fried Pork Chop Over Rice and the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Over Rice. The breading for the pork chop and chicken were just perfect, not too thick or too much breading. The meat were tender and the had just enough crisp that was neither too hard or too soggy!
